Inspired by Vivienne Westwood, plaid sets were very popular in the 90s. As seen on Cher Horowitz in the movie Clueless, plaid sets consisted of a blazer and skirt combo in the same plaid pattern. Though, plaid in itself was also a huge trend in the 90s.

grunge fashion was a huge breakout in the 90s. Grunge was all about less is more. Most grunge outfits consisted of old boots (predominantly Doc Martens), and an outfit layered with an oversized flannel. Women tended to accessorize with chokers, hoop earrings, and dark lipstick. Grunge made its way to luxury when Marc Jacobs debuted a spring collection that was inspired by grunge at Perry Ellis.

babydoll dresses were also a huge trend in the 90s. Worn as clubwear and work wear, they were often styled over a t-shirt. A style seen often on Baby Spice of the Spice Girls. Platform shoes were another trend that was often seen on the Spice Girls. Dating all the way back to greek thespians in the 1600s, platform shoes became massively popular in the 90s. As a part of a sort of 70s style resurgence, platforms, often in sandal form, were worn by many celebrities, including Madonna, Naomi Cambell, and Gwen Stefani. Platforms are also sydney’s favorite trends from the 90s and you can see her sporting them often.
